Interview with Daniel Goldman
Director Daniel Goldman speaks about the experience of staging Kélina Gotman’s translation of The Snakes by Marie NDiaye, describing how Gotman’s attention to keeping NDiaye’s tense, crisp language added to his work on what is already an ‘abstract and mythological piece, full of symbolic and metaphorical content’. Goldman focuses on how working on The Snakes revealed to him his own ‘domesticating’ tendencies, and on how the process will inform his future practice as a director of foreign texts.
