In this short clip, scholar-translator Bryce Lease and actor Tonderai Munyevu speak of the relationship the translators and the actors developed in the workshop process. The translators had to sometimes alter their translation for speech and for navigation: adding commas where Polish might not need them, re-structuring sentences where meaning was delayed due to Polish’s case-based ‘plasticity’. Equally, actors ended up relying on translators as sources of not only linguistic but also cultural information, as people who ‘produced images’ the actors would then build into their characters.
