The house emits strange noises – the shout of a man perhaps, Madame’s son, ‘an ogre’, calling his wife or his children. Outside the house, in the suffocating heat, Madame Diss (Claire Lacey) inundates Nancy (Nadège Adlam) with her stories of debt and resentment – but Nancy sits in the dust, too hot, too tired and to drawn into her guilt to challenge her.
